Soft Ecologist Point of view on Environmental Managers
Environmental Managers:
If you consider nuclear energy to be favorable for environment and economy, why would you tax the use of nuclear energy in the first place? By taxing you do not lower risk but stop the use of nuclear energy. Ultimately you would be contradicting your initial point of view about nuclear energy being favorable for environment.
Discovery of ‘environmentally acceptable’ pesticides requires researchers to unravel the complexities of chemical behavior in the environment. Experiments designed to do so are time consuming and costly and require expertise from numerous scientific disciplines. The use of pesticides in a country is not simple. The pesticide must undergo a series of procedures to be accepted in the country. "The process of registering a pesticide begins with submission to EPA of an application package EPA's review of this application includes assessment of the hazards to human health and the environment that may be posed by the pesticide. Depending on the class of pesticide and the priority assigned to it, the review process can take several years. (Approximately 4-9) ." This process is clearly time consuming, and unnecessary. Why should we use artificially made pesticides, which need to be approved and may endanger our health?
