environmental managers

We, as The Environmental Manager Associates are here to make a change. Global Warming, caused by CO2 emission is an issue planet Earth and all the life in it is facing. The constant emission of CO2 in the atmosphere principally due to human activity, keeps on increasing its rate due to the non-awareness of our actions regarding population’s production, consumerism, and the overuse of energy. OUR PLANET IS CHANGING RAPIDLY. If most of the Earth’s energy comes from fossil fuels, which emit a huge amount of CO2 to the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuels, and this is affecting Earth directly, we should take action. Disease, climate and weather changes, flooding, droughts, habitat destruction, and biodiversity loss are some of the consequences Global Warming is causing due to the “human freedom” which justifies the use of fossil fuels and has taken it to excess. This excess must have limits. One thing is to have freedom, other to have it without responsibility.

As environmental managers our view on certain environmental issues such as Chernobyl, Silent Spring book is the following. When talking about Chernobyl and nuclear power plants in general, we think that nuclear energy has a variety of advantages that work for the benefit of humanity.  Now a days nuclear power provides 16% of the worlds electricity, aside nuclear energy has a variety of advantages like that there is a very large fuel supply, and it has a low environmental impact(1/6 of pollution compared to fossil fuels). We are aware that there are a verity of risks when it comes to nuclear energy, such as the Chernobyl disaster. But it has to be considered that this accident happened due to a risky experiment, where they reduced the power to see how longer would the reactor would continue to produce electricity. As we know nuclear power plants have to some extent this risk, but it all could be controlled through legislation and regulations. As an example location, we could put some taxes for the building of nuclear power plants closer to cities, as closer to cities the higher the tax, this way nuclear power plants could have the positive impacts on humanity and take part of the risk away. On the other had the problem of DDT presented in the book Silent Spring, we think that the concern that DDT will destroy the environment, in this case birds. We personally believe that we should create international laws so that DDT use would decrease. We know that MEDC cant use DDT but this pesticide is still present on a variety of LEDC, and this does not mean it stops harming the environment. We think that a main regulation for DDT use should be in the taxes, by having very high taxes for DDT you decrease unconscious use of this pesticide, decreasing it’s the chances it will have an effect on that places ecology. Wile DDT in a way would still be used given that its still in discussion that certain places in the world do need to use it, through this technique you would decrease the current access to it and decrease the use of this pesticide. At the same time as the taxes for this product should rise, the ones for more effective pesticides, which have a lower impact in the environment should decrease, this way promoting the economy to go in the way of sustainable and eco friendly products.

  1. girls your opinions are fine, concerning silent spring, but there is not enough support from other sources.(ie graphs, interviews, magazines, newspaper about this topic)
You have a hyperlink that helps support nuclear power plants, nevertheless you are not explaining what the link is about. Additionally, I could not open this link: you may want to just quote the important information, or if its a graph, copy past it and then site it.
I see to many spelling and grammar mistakes. I would correct these asap.
